The history of Jamb village in Buldhana taluka is mainly linked to the wider historical changes of the region. The village is close to the administrative headquarters of Buldhana district and its historical significance is as follows: 1. Ancient and medieval period Part of Vidarbha kingdom: In ancient times, Jamb and present-day Buldhana district were part of Vidarbha kingdom, which is mentioned in the Mahabharata. Various dynasties: The region was dominated by powerful dynasties like Mauryas, Satavahanas, Vakatakas, Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas and Yadavs. In the 13th and 14th centuries, the region was ruled by the Yadavs, during whose reign many Hemadpanthi temples were built here. Sultanate period: In the early 14th century, Alauddin Khilji conquered the region and then the region became part of the Bahamani Sultanate and later the Nizamshahi in 1572. 2. Maratha and Mughal rule Mughal Empire: In 1596, the Mughal emperor Akbar conquered this region and divided it into administrative districts. The area of Jamb may have come under the historical 'Beitulwadi' or 'Mehkar' government. Maratha dominance: In the 17th and 18th centuries, this region became an important part of the Maratha Empire. The Marathas had obtained the right to collect the Chauth and Sardeshmukhi taxes from this region. Nizam of Hyderabad: After the weakening of Mughal rule, Asaf Jah (Nizam-ul-Mulk) established an independent Hyderabad state in 1724 and the entire Varhad including Jamb came under his rule. 3. British period and establishment of the district British rule: In 1853, the Nizam of Hyderabad leased this region to the British. After that, Buldhana district was officially created in 1867. Administrative importance: The British made major changes in the agriculture and revenue system of this region. Jamb village has been a part of Buldhana taluka since its inception. 4. Geographical and demographic profile of the village Population: According to the 2011 census, Jamb village has a population of about 2,627, of which 1,380 are males and 1,247 are females. Area: The total geographical area of the village is about 1,157 hectares (11.57 sq km). Agriculture: The economy here is still mainly based on agriculture, with cotton and soybean being the main crops. The history of Jamb village is completely consistent with the political transitions of Varhad, and even today the village preserves its traditional culture.
